Adjusting For Lisse Hat In Croquet

Lisse Hat in Croquet: Top ViewI made the Lisse Hat in Croquet months ago. If I had notes, I am not sure where they are! I don’t have the unblocked gauge.  This is what you need to do to take the pattern as written and make adjustments for the Lisse Hat In Croquet.  Just for fun, I’ve added in an XL size. You have no excuse not to make the Lisse Hat in Croquet.  You can download a pdf with the original pattern information: Lisse Hat-Data-Croquet.

The cast on numbers in the Lisse Hat pattern are for an even number of repeats. You will need to change to an odd number due to the difference in gauge for the Lisse Hat in Croquet.

  • So use 9 (11) (13) (15) repeats and cat on 72 (88) (104) (120) sts.
  • On the Increase Round your stitch numbers will be 99 (121) (143) (165) sts.

I worked my Lisse Hat Body to 3.25″ above the Bobblet Rib trim.  I suggest 3.25 (3.25) (3.5) (4)”, but you should make sure it is a length you like.  The Crown Shaping will add approximately 3.5″.

Lisse Hat in Croquet: The finish!Work the Crown Shaping as set out–just change the repeats from 10 (12) (14) to 9 (11) (13) (15) through Dec 25.  Use these new stitch counts:

  • Inc Rnd 1 & 9:  108 (132) (156) (180)
  • Dec Rnd 5 & 11:  90 (110) (130) (150)
  • Dec Rnd 7 & 13:  72 (88) (104) (120)
  • Dec Rnd 15:  54 (66) (78) (90)
  • Inc Rnd 17:  90 (110) (130) (150)
  • Dec Rnd 19:  72 (88) (104) (120)
  • Dec Rnd 21:  54 (66) (78) (90)
  • Dec Rnd 23:  36 (44) (52) (60)
  • Dec Rnd 24:  18 (22) (26) (30)
  • Dec Rnd 25:  9 (11) (13) (15)

Now work Dec Rnd 26 like this:  (P2tog) 4 (5) (6) (7) times, p1.  5 (6) (7) (8) sts

Work Dec Rnd 27 as written for the S (M) (L).  The XL size Dec Rnd 27 will be: (P2tog) 4 times.  4 sts

Lisse Hat in Croquet: Side ViewWork the remainder of the Lisse Hat In Croquet as it is written.  All the stitch charts work at this gauge.  The Lisse Hat In Croquet I made came out about 7.75″ from top to cast on.  Be sure to adjust the Lisse Hat Body section to get the length you need before the crown shaping.

It isn’t always as easy to make the necessary adjustments for a different gauge, but this one was a snap.  You now have no excuse not to make the Lisse Hat in Croquet!  Download the pattern wherever you prefer:
