Extra Knitting Time or Not

Does your holiday weekend include extra knitting time or do you step away from your usual knitting? Mine will likely not include as much extra knitting as I imagine. My schedule has been all shaken up due to the impending holiday, the kind of extra plans that get inserted into long weekends, and needing to do some things with my mom late this week.

Extra Knitting Time

Extra Knitting: CorniceFor anyone keeping score, Jane has been removed from her boot and is now learning how to put weight on her already weak and not very responsive left leg. The joys of being 93 years old, having peripheral neuropathy, and a healing broken leg! She did ask for her knitting basket yesterday. Not to knit, but to show me what she was working on. It is a hat that she loves, Cornice, done in her favorite colors, navy and orange. You might wonder why she needs another hat in those colors, and if you are asking that, you must not be a knitter. She has lots of extra knitting time, but her hands don’t allow her a lot of knitting.

Extra Knitting or Knitting Obsession?

IExtra Knitting: Variations on a theme decided this week that these foot coverings that I’ve been fiddling with have gone beyond being a simple pattern. I will release simple patterns, but to get all the cool technique stuff I’ve been creating, and all four patterns in one place, with all the variations and options, it will be an eBook or “SYSTEM”, not a pattern. That will likely not be ready right away, but will release in August. I’ve switched to another yarn because I’m bored with the yarn I was using, plus I have have none of that yarn on hand.  I will get more yarn at TNNA so I can finish the samples, or better yet, farm them out to someone who hasn’t already knitted this multiple times!

Extra Knitting Time or Not

Extra Knitting: Step PhotosUntil then, I am doing step photos using the new yarn, so the SYSTEM will have tutorials with photographs, plus the patterns, plus all the techniques, and worksheets, explanations, and shaping charts!

I’m also looking at the videos I shot earlier in the week for my Action Chart class. I need to have the videos edited and uploaded by the end of this month to meet the Skillshare Teacher Challenge.  Whether I make it or not is still up in the air, but I am making an heroic effort!
