Fall Knitting

Tomorrow is the first day of Fall for 2015. I actually had to look it up. and was surprised to see that it isn’t always the same date. So I’ve learned something already today. To acknowledge the changing season, I am wearing a leaf pin made for me by a former student.

Fall Knitting: Leaf PinFall Knitting

If Wednesday is the first day of fall, Tuesday seems like the perfect time to line up my fall knitting projects and review what I’ve been working on. I’m often working on “secret knitting” and I am rarely seasonal because I am working ahead of the actual calendar, but it helps to do seasonal reviews. I have a personal knitting project I want to finish so it will ready to wear in whatever season seems appropriate! It is in Civility, a wool/silk yarn, so I consider it appropriate for most seasons here.

What is Still in Progress for Fall Knitting?

Fall Knitting: InfuscateInfuscate. My personal project, got set aside as my attention was diverted to more immediate projects. I have checked on Ravelry and it would appear I started it in May, but weighing the ball of yarn I have 68g of 100g left, so I’m only 40% into this one. I love the color I’m using and it is a wonderfully different texture fabric created by what I’m calling a buttonhole stitch, so I want to finish. I’ll queue this one up for non-work knitting until I get my next Sheepspot mailing.

Bath Sets. Then there are two bath set patterns that I enthusiastically returned to after attending TNNA and being given yarn by Universal Yarn. Yonca and Amy are always generous and I love the Fibra Natura line of yarns so I got a cotton and a linen/cotton blend. I like facecloths (I use one every night to take my makeup off without soap or cleanser), and have a bath mitt and soap sack for each of the patterns. I got two face cloths done in the linen/cotton, but one of them I misinterpreted the finishing detail when I was deep in a martini one Friday, so I need to undo that and redo it. I also got a face cloth done in the cotton as well as a small soap sack and am nearly finished with the bath mitt (right hand). Looks like I have enough to make a second mitt. These will stay in the queue because they are good when I am tired or shifting between projects.

Secret Knitting. I have a secret knitting project that I was pretty excited about, but had to be put aside when I was sick and I am waiting for more yarn. I will finish it later in October.

PuzzlKnit: Eureka Maze Fall KnittingEureka! I am nearly finished with my Eureka! for the PuzzlKnit that began September 17. Of course I should have finished it before then, but despite a lot of knitting while I was sick, there was an equal amount of ripping and not much forward progress.  I am about 75% finished and will be finishing that this week. I am in the home stretch and am excited to be able to start sharing with those participating!

What I did Finish!

Knitting. I sent two projects to Love of Knitting.  I made Kronborg Cowl. I have done swatches for two designs that have gone to knitters. Seems like I should have finished more, but that is kind of how my knitting goes. There was swatching for another project that had to be put on hold. I did a video of backwards knitting!

I have worked on patterns, guided students through the Craftsy class and recruited new students, updated my Newsletter, revamped my Wholesale Newsletter, opened Open Studio Space on my website, upgraded some of the content on my website, written blogs fairly consistently, and tried to do plenty of social media sharing. I taught a quarter at FIDM.

What I’m Adding to My Fall Knitting

New Design. I have a new design that I am dying to get some traction on. I will do some swatching, then it will eventually have to be knit by someone else.

Fall Knitting: Seattle knit along

Seattle & Bellevue. I am ramping up to do a knit along of these.  Find some mohair and get ready to join me in 2016. I am going to cast on the sleeves of Seattle and get going on my sample. Bellevue has been knit and is awaiting construction videos.

Lisse Hat Bobblet Rib Trim

Lisse Hat. I have a sample, but I want to make another one for me. This is definitely going to be a “time allowing” project. This will be releasing mid-October! The matching pullover will release in November.
