Today I was sewing together a project to go off to Creative Knitting. The only finishing needed was to seam the sleeves, put the sleeves in the armholes, and attach pockets. Clever me, I’d decided it would be a cardigan with no closures!
I love to graft and I love to do the mattress stitch. I’m not sure why people hate to do the finishing, or for myself, why I put it off when I actually enjoy doing it. Crazy. I had blocked my pieces when they arrived from the knitter, and then everything just sat. Waiting. I needed to take pictures, and between my negative photography skills, and something having gotten wonky in my camera settings, that was just a frustrating and negative process. So I spent a lot of time that I should have been finishing trying to figure out the camera. Sigh. Never did really get it. Pockets got attached, then it was just sleeves to go.
This morning the piece got finished, I have samples for additional photos should they be needed, and everything fit together perfectly! I had a very pleasant hour sewing the sleeves in and working in ends. I blocked the seams. Done.
