1-5-13 Today Tina, who owns the shop where my mom and I go for our manicure/pedicure every three weeks, asked me how long it would take me to knit a cardigan. Although I had actually knit the one I was wearing, I said oh, I don’t really knit sweaters, I pay other people to do it.
I had actually knit that one, but so long ago that I can’t recall how long it took. I am guessing, because it was worsted and just stockinette, that it too about 30 to 40 hours of actual knitting. The finishes probably took another 20. But it made me wonder and I’m tempted to test it out. As much as I would like to churn out a sweater, I don’t have that kind of knitting time! In fact, I need to do some finishing knitting before a photo shoot on Thursday. I had planned to get a lot of knitting done today, but it is now 4:30 and I haven’t picked up my needles. Better get busy!
If you have thought of me knitting my days away, that is just a fantasy. I begin my day at about 8 or 8:30 most days, and work at my desk, either writing long hand, drawing charts, etc., or work at my computer. I usually work until about 5:30 if I have Pilates, or until 7 pm if not. On Wednesdays I leave the house at 10:30 and get home from teaching and Pilates at 8:15. Most nights I knit between 8 pm and 10 or 10:30 pm. I’m pretty fast, but it makes for slow progress. I’m anxious to start a knitalong, and hope to plan my time so that I can actually participate. With construction going on here, I could use more sweaters!
