Design from Concept to Pattern
J–Squared Knitwear Design Intensive is focused on knitwear
design and fit while also engaging the worlds of fashion,
creativity, and math! Walk through design concept to working pattern.
Why a Knitwear Design Intensive?
Knitwear designers and pattern writers need two things: creativity and skills to apply to patterns and design. Spend five days in a knitwear design intensive learning environment to update, refresh, and bring together your own best capabilities as a designer, or pattern writer by clarifying goals, honing your skills, and feeding your creativity. Registration will cap at a maximum of 15 attendees.
Who Will Lead the J–Squared Knitwear Design Intensive?
Jeane deCoster and Jill Wolcott will each bring a unique combination of technical and design skills to this knitwear design intensive. They are eager to share what they know, what you want to know, and to help you be the best designer and pattern writer you can be.
Jeane deCoster is owner of Elemental Affects Yarn Company and is a trained fashion designer, who also grades, writes code for pattern fitting, and also brings an unsurpassed fiber and yarn knowledge to any conversation.
Jill Wolcott brings her design and teaching skills to the exploration of design as both a creative endeavor and a skill. Grading, fit, and fashion are key components to construction and design that can are blended in knitwear design and pattern writing, but she loves to look behind the obvious to help you become the designer or pattern writer you want to be.
Both Jeane and Jill have an intense interest in fit and grading and see it from slightly different perspectives (but get to the same place!). Each is conversant and knowledgable in areas of fit for the individual and for a specific size and customer markets. Add in fiber and fabric knowledge, creativity, design, fashion, and it all adds up to a knitwear design intensive focused on grading and fit, design management, and creative exploration specifically for the knitwear market!
