Prioritizing Projects for Progress

I have been prioritizing projects as I am unpacking my studio and making plans for the weeks ahead. I have lots of things going on as I always do, but my prioritizing is becoming much narrower for the next three months. As I contemplated what I had to do and how I was going to find time to do it, I came to the conclusion that I needed to do less blog writing, and more other kinds of writing. So for the next few months, this Monday blog isn’t going to happen–unless, of course, I need a way to avoid the other work I have to do.

Prioritizing: catch a starI have enjoyed writing three times a week, and it has been a great way to practice, not just writing, but often writing quickly! But I have been prioritizing the blog ahead of other things because it was very clear cut: I said I would do it, so it needed to be done. When I realized that something had to give, I also realized it was within my power to say, this isn’t working as it has in the past and I need to change it!Prioritizing: target practice

I will miss writing something here every Monday, but I hope that each of us takes away, in its absence, that we are in charge of prioritizing what we do. Even if it is something we liked, and enjoyed, there sometimes comes a point where it just isn’t the proper fit anymore. We can change our minds!

So if you have knitting projects that you started and need to let go of, maybe this is the perfect moment.  We’re heading into the best knitting seasons in a month or so, so clear the decks so you can focus on those things that make the most sense for your life. Right now.  See you on Tuesdays and Fridays here. Sign up for my newsletter, to get that in your inbox every week, on Thursday. I’ll continue with the monthly guest blog too.
