If you’ve been reading the blog you know that I am really focused on getting the Blue Canoe cami top knitted. It is pretty easy knitting, and I’m enjoying it, but it does take focus to get through almost any project. It is a good mirror for what is also going on in other parts of my life.
I am constantly struggling with getting things done, and not getting things done. Seems that for everything that does get done, something else falls by the wayside, or gets less than the attention that it needs. And I always think something is going to change, but you know, it doesn’t. I’ve decided to step back from doing, and focus on planning where I’m going for a bit. Chart a course instead of just reacting or focusing on immediate things, and hopefully put a few serious projects on track toward completion.
Because we went on vacation when it was cold, we didn’t walk as much as we usually do. But I ate like we did. So I’ve been packing around some unneeded pounds since spring. Compounding that, I haven’t been able to run as much as I was last year due to ongoing issues with tightness in my heels. And right after I did all that wonderful eating (yes, croissants are the breakfast of champions!) I had to rework my pilates classes because my old studio closed. So, I resolved to lose the extra weight and at least run consistently during July. So far. So good. More consistent running of shorter distances is definitely achievable. I have also been being mindful of my caloric intake and have lost half of the weight I need to take off. Definitely a good time to do that–while fruits and fresh, filling things are in abundance.
I have really enjoyed having a Nook to read on and because it is so handy and easy to use I decided that I should take advantage of it and improve my flossing routine. So most mornings I floss my teeth while I read my book. This is so easy I wonder why I didn’t do it before. Oh, because you can’t keep a book open, and floss your teeth at the same time! So technology makes this simple oral-hygiene improvement possible.
And I’m working on the planning thing. This is hard. Clearly it is going to take a lot of work to get where I want on it, but I’m in the throes of the first steps.
