Second Boat leaves Dock

Front-to-waistYesterday I cast on and knitted the first 3″ of my Blue Canoe Front. I also cast on and started working on the neckband for Blue Canoe. I don’t expect to make progress as quickly as I did on the back, but it felt good to get it going.  I quit working on it when I got to the waist shaping because I want to check it against my Back.  I also want to put markers into both sides on each piece to make the seaming and blocking easier.  I figured better to get that all settled before getting too far ahead of myself on the knitting.

I did most of my knitting last night while we watched an Argentine movie.  This is why I like to be able to read and knit.  I only missed a couple of sentences in the movie when I wasn’t paying attention.  Earlier in the day we went to the theatre to see the new Pedro Almodovar movie.  It was just a very fun movie.  I don’t knit in movies at the theatre because I am going for a different watching experience than I have at home.  That trip out prompted me to start the neckband which will be my travel knitting.  I have  a BART trip to Oakland tomorrow so an hour of knitting!Neckband

I also re-cast on my next super-simple project. This one is a little less simple, and done on smaller needles, but it was excellent reading knitting. I read my book for a while late in the afternoon, so that too is nearing completion–on the last 100 pages.

Today, Sunday, finds me doing my laundry and the ironing, as well as cleaning out the guest room which is often a depository for things overflowing from my office, and also has had things from various parts of the house that needed to be stored during the remodeling. I had determined that today was the day to make serious inroads in the chaos. Much of it is done and I am also making progress on the ironing and laundry so I will have earned my bath this evening.

Super-Simple-2I ran this morning and all the catching up on sleep and reduced stress seemed to pay off–I didn’t have the feeling of being ready to quit at 2 miles that has plagued me lately.  I’m always ready for the last hill to be done, but today it was just because it is a hill.  I delivered plastic bags to the dog run as I ran through the park.  Good deed done!
