Description

How Chattanooga Cosy happened: I saw a mug online for Chattanooga Yarn Company that is my favorite color of green so I asked the LYSO to send me one.  She showed me a yarn that she had dyed for LYS Day on April 29.

You can get the pattern for Chattanooga Cosy now!  It won’t actually be ready until June 5 [sorry for moving the goalpost, but I am woefully behind], but you can reserve your copy. I am busting this wide open with 20 sizes. Jamie will be creating an Any Size.Any Gauge version as well, so this is a bargain at $12.  You know the scenario:  I raise the price with the formal release, so get it now.  Since I have been traveling it will only be available on my website until June 5.

Chattanooga  – What’s New?

The Chattanooga Cosy reflects all that we have been learning about Yoke pullover fit. There are GSRs in 3 places to get a fit that will, well, FIT!

But it is pretty easy to knit! Chattanooga Cosy combines the drop stitches I love with the twisted stitches from another pattern. I am calling this stitch Elegant Crossed Rib.

I made what will be size 9 (of 20) which i squeezed from one 400 yard skein of sock yarn. The bottom measurement is 67″ / 170.5 cm and the neck circumference is 31″ / 78.7 cm.  Length is 15.75″ / 40 cm at the back and 13″ / 33 cm at the front.

Why Drop Stitches?

I like fabric that is light weight.  Hence, I love DK and lighter yarns, and then using drop stitches opens things up even more.  You still get warmth, but it allows me to layer, and get added dimension at the same time.  Also, hot flashes!

Drop stitches are also pretty versatile.  This is all a single stitch pattern (there are two different crossed stitches, then I varied the number of even rounds to get the arched effect.

More than Just Great Design!

Pop a cosy over whatever you are wearing and it is a new outfit.  But while you are knitting Chattanooga Cosy you will learn techniques   (or maybe just practice what you already know), see how they contribute to great fit over your upper torso, and have fun dropping stitches, twisting stitches, and bind off with an appropriately flexible bind off.
