Description

Create a piece as unique as you are with the ingenious Esperance Cowl worked in a luscious blend of merino and silk. Use buttons, beads, or sequins to showcase the cleverness of the moebius construction and the reversible-yet-different stitch pattern. With options for two yarn weights and as much or as little embellishment as you like, you’ll end up with a perfectly personal cowl every time.

Pattern includes: Written instructions, charted and written stitch pattern, schematic, technique descriptions specific to the pattern, plus multiple styling photographs.

Additional Esperance Cowl Information

Yarn Used:

  • Sock Civility Sock Twist 2-ply from Elemental Affects, 70% merino, 30% mulberry silk, 4oz/450 yds (405m)
  • Sport Civility Soft Twist Sport from Elemental Affects, 70% merino, 30% mulberry silk, 4oz/400yds (365m)
  • Sock 1 (1) (1) (2) (2) (2) skeins
  • Sport 1 (1) (2) (2) (2) (2) skeins

I’ve personally made two of these, which is at least one more than I typically knit of anything. I love all aspects of this piece, from matching the yarn with the perfect embellishment, to Cat Bordhi’s moebius cast on, the stitch pattern unfolding in two directions, and finally, using as much of the yarn as I can! As my KAL moderator said, the combination of things is just interesting enough to make this pattern something you want to knit more than once.

Esperance Soft: I made the Esperance Soft at a completely different gauge, showing how versatile this pattern can be.

Yarn Used:

  • Soft Recycled Silk from Himalaya Yarn, 100% silk, 80 yds/100g
  • Size small, Super Bulky  2 skeins
