Description

Why A Fan-shaped Face Cloth?

The fan-shaped face cloth is just enough face cloth. Quick to dry, and with a handy hanging loop, there is just enough fabric to cover your hand while washing your face, your baby, or in the shower or bath.

Need a great, but quick and inexpensive gift?

Need something to work on while the weather is hot?

Need something worthwhile to knit but easy?

This fan-shaped face cloth can be all of those things, and is also useful!

I use mine to take my makeup off every night (no soap, just hot water) which is nice to my skin and to my towels. A wonderful way to say thank you, welcome, happy holidays, happy birthday, as a baby shower or bridal shower gift. Seriously, each cloth takes about 12g of yarn, so a 100g ball will yield eight fan-shaped face cloths.

Did you know that most European hotels do not provide face cloths? Face cloths are considered a personal item and are part of anyone’s travel kit. So be a truly intrepid traveler by bringing your own face cloth, or bring the materials to make them as you go.

Easy to Create Fan-shaped Face Cloth

This version is done using Cotton Supreme from Universal Yarn, on size 5(3.75mm) needles. The secret to the shape is the placement of the decreases. This version is done in garter stitch so you never have to think about maintaining a stitch pattern.

Once you see the methodology, adjust the stitch count and placement of decreases to make it work at any gauge. This is such an easy thing to create it is also perfect for travel knitting. Make one on your journey to use. Make others to give as gifts, and keep them close by for that simple knitting distraction we often need when on the road.
