Description
Measurements can be hard, so the Measurement Clinic is designed to be supportive, and get this task done. I have 26 measurement points. I know! Kill me now.
I had to take my measurements for a custom-sized pattern in the Pattern Tailor. I didn’t even have to do them all, but I did keep putting it off. Finally I buckled down and did it. I get why this simple thing, which we need so badly, can seem like having teeth extracted.
Why a Measurement Clinic?
I created the Measurement Clinic so you don’t have to do this alone. Many of our measurements can be taken by ourselves if we have someone “spotting” us. During the clinic I am available to record data points for you. I do not have to say them out loud, I will not be judging you, and then it will be done. But it is emotionally hard work, so you don’t have to do it all at once!
Here’s the thing.
- You only have do do this once every few years unless your body experiences major changes.
- These are data points which will help you!
- These data points then become points of comparison to find better fit for your body using existing patterns.
- These data points do not have to be shared with anyone else. I will quietly record your data points for you in a sizing table and email you the recorded results.
There are four Measurement Clinics scheduled. Sign up for each date individually (sorry!)
- You may attend all or only one of them.
- I have set a limit of 8 people for each clinic. This allows approximately 10 minutes for each person.
- You may request that other participants turn off video during your measurement taking.
- Each clinic will start with a review of what we are going to do and directions so you will be ready for your turn.
Depending on demand, I will set times and send zoom links via email.
- Session 1: Focus on Circumferences. October 25, 2026
- There are 11 circumferences to measure. This is where most of the emotional weight lives, but you don’t need help from anyone but me.
- Session 2: Focus on Horizontals. November 8, 2026
- There are 2 or 3 measurements that you will need help with. None of them are measurements that carry much emotional weight (shoulder width, back width, and minimum sleeve cap width).
- Session 3: Focus on Verticals. November 22, 2026
- Each measurement (there are 8 of them) require some help. Again, none of them carry much emotional weight.
- Session 4: Clean Up or Catch Up! December 6, 2026
- We’ll attend to whatever there is left to do.
You will need a tape measure for this. If you need a longer tape measurement, contact me and I will mail a paper tape measure to you. It is 72″ / 184 cm long (plus some overlap).
Please download the sizing table here.
Put this on your wishlist if you cannot make any of these dates and I’ll let you know when new dates are set.
