Description
This is where you can get a downloadable fillable form of the Jill Wolcott Knits® 0 to 20 Hourglass sizes? The download has the table in both inches and centimeters.
There is a custom column in the tables, and you can use the downloadable fillable form to put your own measurements into it. Nothing will happen, but you will have your measurements recorded and you can compare them to the other sizes. The Sizes 0 to 20 Hourglass Sizing Table
- There are 26 measurement points in this table. They are there to help you get a picture of your body via data points; use the ones that are useful to you.
- Once you know your own measurements you can compare to the other sizes I have established, and to the sizing used in knitting patterns.
- Your measurements can help you find the size that will fit you best.
Why are there sizing tables anyway?
- There are no “correct” sizes.
- Sizing tables give body measurements, without ease.
- My sizing is slightly more generous in circumferences, and reflects my own point of view on other areas of measurement.
- My sizing may not suit everyone, and they should use numbers that work for their customer.
- Sizing is all based on averages which means it reflects absolutely no one!
- This sizing table covers 10 sizes; the range for bust is 30″ / 76 cm to 53″ / 134.6 cm.
- There is overlap with Lavish sizing because measurements don’t always equate with larger size overall.
- Most US sizing is based off of tables of measurements available from ASTM which are standards created from averages.
- To write a knitting pattern, or to draft a garment pattern, we need numbers. Numbers should be consistent, so sizing tables allow for consistent application to design and across designs.
Why there isn’t a larger sizing range?
- I like Lavish instead of Plus size. It will be the Sizes 14W to 40 Lavish Hourglass Sizing Table.
- There will be a separate sizing table coming soon for sizes 14W to 40W.
- The grading needs to be applied to larger sizing carefully and in a different table for consistency and accuracy.
- The process of creating the measurements and the grading takes time, but this group of sizes is next up!
- There will be 11 sizes in this range.
- The size range for bust is 41.5″ / 105.4 cm to 74″ / 188 cm.
- There is overlap because not all people with large busts are Lavish.
There is an Interactive version available here, which is more appropriate to designers, tech editors, and pattern writers. It is based on this same sizing, but with some additional bells and whistles so it is not available at no charge.
