I knit a new version of the Taos Shawl in Aladdin from Mountain Meadow Wool. This is a single ply of their lovely Mountain Merino plied with a shiny silk binder. I knit this on a larger needle (US size 10.5(6.5mm)) but otherwise followed the pattern. I did knit my i-cord longer–blocked it is about 80″. I used two skeins, and have about 5 yards left.
I’m starting to think about what I’m taking on my vacation trip later this month, and this is starting to be a strong contender. I really love this look. It would be awesome for a winter wedding, although it obviously could be done in a color and be useful for almost anything.
This shawl is one I always get compliments on, no matter which variation of it I have worn. I think it is an interesting combination of Victorian styling and a strong geometric stitch pattern that makes it feel not stuffy.
Stay tuned for a tutorial on doing the cross-stitch.
