4/4 cable, are cables where four stitches cross in front of (or behind) four more stitches.
4/4 Cable – Left
Abbreviation: 4/4 LC
Slip 4 stitches onto a cable needle and hold in front, k4 then k4 from cable needle.
4/4 Cable – Right
Abbreviation: 4/4 RC
Slip 4 stitches onto a cable needle and hold in back, k4 then k4 from cable needle.
4/4 Cable – Left, without a Cable Needle
Abbreviation: 4/4 LC
To cable without cable needle: with right needle in front of left needle skip the first 4 stitches on the left needle, put the right needle into the back of the next 4 stitches. Drop the first 4 stitches off the left needle (to the back) and move the 4 stitches onto the right needle. Then pick up the dropped stitches with the left needle and return the 4 stitches from right needle to the left, and k8.
4/4 Cable – Right, without a Cable Needle
Abbreviation: 4/4 RC
To cable without cable needle: with right needle in back of left needle skip the first 4 stitches on the left needle, put the right needle into the back of the next 4 stitches. Drop the first 4 stitches off the left needle (to the front) and move the 4 stitches onto the right needle. Then pick up the dropped stitches with the left needle and return the 4 stitches from right needle to the left, and k8.
4/4 Knit/Purl Left – Purl in Back
Abbreviation: 4/4 LCp
Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, k4 from left needle, then p4 from cable needle.
4/4 Knit/Purl Right – Purl in Back
Abbreviation: 4/4 RCp
Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, k4 from left needle, then p4 from cable needle.
4/4 Purl/Knit Left – Purl in Front
Abbreviation: 4/4 pLC
Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, p4 from left needle, then k4 from cable needle.
4/4 Purl/Knit Right – Purl in Front
Abbreviation: 4/4 pRC
Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, p4 from left needle, then k4 from cable needle.
