Use two balls of yarn. Designate one yarn C1 and the other C2. Tie the ends of the two balls together.
Hold a needle in the right hand with the knotted yarns.
Pass C1 from behind the needle over the top to the front.
Pass C2 in front of C1, then behind and over the needle.
*Insert the left needle into the back of both loops on right needle. Pass C1 in front of and around the right needle from back to front and pull C1 through both loops on needle (this is knitting backwards). The C2 will be a small bump. Pull gently on C2 and C1 (don’t pull tight as you need to pick up from this chain later). Take C2 from behind C1 and and pass it over the needle and behind the first yarn. Rep from * for the number of chains needed.
After making the needed number of chains, cut C2 and pull end through the last C1 loop.
