There was just enough information in the amount of text I could see of the email on my phone that I decided not to delete it. When you have your own website, you get all sorts of contacts, solicitations, emails you cannot stop coming, and occasionally an intriguing request. Mitch and I had returned only two days before the email from a wedding in the Denver area (more on that to come).
Just Enough Information
I look at email on my phone in the morning while standing in the kitchen. I’m pretty brutal about deleting stuff, and I hate those emails that are soliciting redoing your website, or improving your website performance (never mind those wishing to improve my erectile performance) where they have gleaned just enough information to make it seem like you should read their emails. So I slide my glasses on and take a look at this one:
Hey Jill –
I hope everything is going well on your end 🙂
My name is Emily, and I’m on the content team at Wine Turtle.
I just finished going through your article here: https://www.jillwolcottknits.com/storybook-winery/. Thanks for the resource!
My colleague recently put together a pretty comprehensive piece on some of the oldest wine companies in the world. There is a ton of information out there; our guide was designed to cut through the noise a bit.
The post is here: https://www.wineturtle.com/oldest-wine-companies/
Would you consider linking to it in the article of yours I mentioned above? I saw you linked to gunbun.com in there, so I figured I’d see if you’d link to mine as well. Perhaps your visitors find it helpful, but hey, it’s up to you.
I am vaguely amused and glad I don’t do this for a job, but I did get all the way through, and clicked on her link. I am actually pleased to be reminded about our trip up to Storybook Winery (link below).
Just Enough Cooking
We have enjoyed the wine Mitch bought on that outing, and I have told so many people about the sous vide
device (Anova) precision cooker that Kathy and Stephen gave us as a thank you gift. I’m not big on kitchen gadgets, but this one is storable (big criteria for me) and gives great results. If you cook protein, you should consider purchasing one. I’ve taken to batch cooking meat, poultry, and fish on Sundays so during the week I have just enough of the cooking process completed to keep preparation times workable.
Three Weddings is Just Enough
If you were in the active military and your unit got deployed to Afghanistan, and you had found the perfect mate, wouldn’t you want to make sure they were taken care of in the event of something unfortunate? So Stephen and Kathy went to the Colorado DMV and got married before he deployed, but planned the whole wedding with friends and family for after his return. The DMV wedding was not common knowledge. Events happened (showers, parties) and save the date cards went out. Invitations arrived, gifts were sent, plane tickets were purchased, and hotel reservations were made. Turns out that a religious ceremony needed to occur as well; a Catholic service was held to satisfy that contingent. As they enjoy their honeymoon cruise, they will see just enough Europe to make them go back.
Just Enough Photos
I have photos to show. I’m suffering trauma from being in Denver, and this is just enough for the last Friday in August!
Above: The pink tree was from the lobby of the mini golf place Mitch and I visited to while away some time. Next up is Mount Rainier which is barely recognizable as the glacier-laden peak I used to know.
Below: Weddings are now photographic events. This one had an attractive couple. The military chaplain did a great service; he’d been in Afghanistan with Stephen. The Swordsmen quickly fell back into formation for me to take their photos.
More Below: Apparently eight bridesmaids is just enough. I thought this little boy from Portugal was perfectly dressed.
