I work at a desk. I don’t spend my days knitting and playing with yarn (although I get to do some of that, it always seems to be the last thing I do, not the first). Today I am working in Dana Point, CA (Orange County). I’m here with my spouse who is at a meeting and I am going to play with a spreadsheet so I can finish a couple of patterns that I have knitters waiting on.
It is always kind of fun to get out of one’s usual habits, and yesterday I totally played hooky. I went out to lunch, got a massage, played around on the computer, did a little sketching, and read my book. Then we went out to dinner. So mostly a lost day.
I was wondering what I would do to amuse myself this morning, and as I was getting dressed I realized I could work on my spreadsheets. Got a little excited. It is kind of a love-hate thing. It is really a slog to figure out all the formulas, the things you need formulas for, and how to get the numbers you need, but the result is so cool that I love it. I’m actually just changing gauge on a pattern already written, so I need to make sure everything works in the new gauges. Fun! These spreadsheets are about 400 rows long, so checking is, well, a process.
